The concrete counting materials. The child progresses to this material following the Red Rods from the Sensorial area.

Number Rods and Cards is presented following lessons with the Sandpaper Numbers. The child is associating quantity and symbol for the first time in the curriculum.

Teen Boards and Beads

Linear Counting is taught using the Teen Boards and Beads. These materials are introduced in the following order: 1. Teen Beads 2. Teen Boards 3. Teen Beads and Boards.

Quantity is introduced first, then symbol. Finally, the Teen Board and Beads lesson associates quantity and symbol.

Sandpaper Numbers

This is one of the first materials introduced to a child in the Primary classroom. The purpose of this materials is to learn the names of the number symbols 0-9.

The Hundred Board

The hundred board is a satisfying challenge. Typically completed by a child ages 4-6. Serves as preparation for the short and long chains. To prepare for this material, the child must be comfortable with teen board and beads and tens board and beads.
